STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVE OF USING CODE MIXING IN SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

In this era, people tend to post on social media in mixed languages. They
used mixed language for many reasons. This study aimed to investigate
students’ reasons of using code-mixing in social media. This study was
done qualitatively at a University in Central Java. The participants were 3
students from the English department. The data was collected through
observation and interviews. The result of the interview would be
transcribed in clean transcription using Microsoft Word. The result of the
observation and interview would be reported descriptively. The result
showed some strategies used by students such as to make it easier to
express the meaning, to emphasize the main point, adjust to the situation,
and trigger by social community.
